Ron A. Rothhaar
AUTHOR - Ron A. Rothhaar
The elder son of Roger, Ron, is also a lifelong traditional bowhunter.  He spent the entirety of his father’s last fourteen deer seasons hunting alongside Roger. To date, Ron has taken at least one mature whitetail buck each season, the last twenty-one years in a row, in four states, and all with purely traditional equipment. The book is written as a combination of Roger’s unfinished or outlined writings and Ron’s own experience and thoughts from forty-five years of hunting with his father. Ron then takes you on a journey of some of his most memorable and educational hunts.

I miss my old friend Roger Rothhaar. As the old saying goes, “We wore camo when camo wasn’t cool.” Roger and I were what thousands of fledgling bowhunters called “Heavy Hitters,” in more ways than one! We participated in America’s great whitetail revolution. We witnessed it come full circle, in many aspects maybe too much, too far and too fast. Many novice deer hunters today only know what they see on television. The future and heritage of our whitetail passion depends on getting back into the woods to hunt these beloved deer for all the right reasons. Roger and his son Ron tell their story in this book. Reading these ideas, experiences and memories offered by real woodsmen is a very valuable opportunity. May the forest be with you.
